Work Package 5: Designing and Delivering the Future of Vocational Training in Livestock Farming
As the LIVECoVET project progresses, we are currently working on Work Package 5 (WP5), a key phase focused on transforming research, analysis, and policy insights into practical and impactful vocational training curricula for the livestock sector.
From Analysis to Action
Building on the results of previous phases—particularly the needs analysis (WP2) and the assessment of existing skills and VET systems (WP3)—WP5 marks the transition from understanding the challenges to developing concrete training solutions.
The goal is to design programmes that are not only aligned with European priorities but also fully adapted to real farm conditions and sector needs.
A Curriculum Built for Today’s Challenges
The livestock sector is facing rapid transformation driven by sustainability demands, digitalisation, and evolving regulations. WP5 addresses these challenges by developing curricula that integrate:
- Sustainability and agroecology
- Animal welfare and health management
- Digital and precision livestock farming
- Farm management and decision-making
- Understanding of EU policies and frameworks
This ensures that training goes beyond theory, equipping learners with practical and strategic competences.
Innovative Learning Approaches
A key focus of WP5 is the way training is delivered. Based on stakeholder feedback, the project is prioritising:
- Practical, experience-based learning
- Flexible and modular formats
- Digital and blended learning tools
- Interactive and learner-centred methodologies
These approaches aim to make training more accessible, engaging, and directly applicable.
Strengthening the Skills Ecosystem
The training programmes are being designed to support different actors across the sector, including farmers, advisors, and VET providers. By doing so, LIVECoVET contributes to building a more connected and responsive vocational education system.
