What is LIVECoVET?

The LIVECoVET project emerges as a strategic response to the urgent sustainability challenges gripping the livestock farming sectors across eight European Union (EU) countries: Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Romania, France, Luxembourg, Spain, and Italy.

With the sector facing the ramifications of climate change, environmental degradation, and the imperative for adopting sustainable practices, this initiative becomes imperative. Recognizing the diversity of agricultural practices shaped by varied climates, geographical features.

Building on previous analyses, this phase aims to develop practical, flexible, and future-oriented training programmes that address key challenges such as sustainability, digitalisation, and modern farm management.

This article presents a synthesis of the key findings from Work Package 2: Needs Analysis and Work Package 3: Currently Offered Skills Analysis, VET Policies and Regulations within the LIVECoVET project.

Key Findings from LIVECoVET WP2: Understanding Stakeholder Needs for the Agroecological Transition

The consultation shows that agroecological practices are expanding across Europe, improving biodiversity, pasture management, and animal welfare. However, further progress depends on stronger training, advisory support, and practical learning adapted to real farm conditions.
