LIVECoVET Presented at KU Leuven Scientific Seminar
On 18 February 2026, the M3-BIORES lab at KU Leuven hosted one of its regular scientific seminars, bringing together researchers and experts working on biological systems and innovation in life sciences. During this event, Amélie Canon, from our partner KU Leuven, presented the LIVECoVET project.
LIVECoVET is an Erasmus+ Centre of Vocational Education and Training (CoVET) that brings together 14 partners from 8 European countries. The project aims to support the transformation of the livestock sector by promoting sustainability, innovation, and resilience through the development of specialised training programmes.
At the core of LIVECoVET is the ambition to strengthen green and digital skills, ensuring that both current and future professionals are equipped to respond to the evolving challenges of the sector. By fostering collaboration between VET providers, industry stakeholders, and institutions, the project contributes to building a strong European ecosystem for vocational excellence.
During the seminar, the presentation focused on the results of Work Package 2 (WP2) – Needs Analysis. These findings highlighted key skills gaps across Europe, particularly in areas related to digitalisation, sustainability, and emerging technologies in livestock farming.
Building on these insights, LIVECoVET is now progressing into Work Package 5 (WP5) – Curriculum and Course Design. This next phase will focus on developing innovative training programmes tailored to sector needs. Among the key components is the Technology & Innovation module, which will address topics such as precision livestock farming, digital tools, data-driven decision-making, and smart farming technologies.
The presentation at KU Leuven represents an important step in disseminating the project’s progress within the scientific community, reinforcing the link between research, education, and practical application in the livestock sector.
As LIVECoVET continues to evolve, it aims to play a key role in shaping a more sustainable, digital, and future-ready agricultural landscape across Europe.
