The LIVECOVET consortium met in Lisbon to review progress and move into a new phase focused on developing digital tools and innovative training for the livestock secto

LIVECoVET is currently working on Work Package 5, focused on designing and delivering innovative vocational training curricula for the livestock sector. Building on previous analyses, this phase aims to develop practical, flexible, and future-oriented training programmes that address key challenges such as sustainability, digitalisation, and modern farm management.

This article presents a synthesis of the key findings from Work Package 2: Needs Analysis and Work Package 3: Currently Offered Skills Analysis, VET Policies and Regulations within the LIVECoVET project.

The consultation shows that agroecological practices are expanding across Europe, improving biodiversity, pasture management, and animal welfare. However, further progress depends on stronger training, advisory support, and practical learning adapted to real farm conditions.

LIVECoVET and KU Leuven hosted a session with the FAO eLearning Academy on innovative digital learning approaches. The session explored new methodologies to enhance vocational education through digital tools and interactive learning.

The project held a coordination meeting to review progress on Work Packages 2 and 3, focusing on skills analysis, VET systems, and sector needs. Discussions aimed to align activities and strengthen the impact of ongoing project results.

As part of Work Package 2 – Needs Analysis, surveys were conducted among farmers, trainers, and sector professionals to identify the main gaps and opportunities in livestock training.
